AC500-eCo – CPUs
Based on the successful AC500 range, the extremely compact AC500-eCo PLCs offer the most flexible and economical configuration available, low-cost and straightforward servicing, and all requirements of a modern control system from small to demanding applications.
For over a decade, the AC500-eCo V2 has been a proven and reliable range of CPUs tested in the field, and it is well established on the market. It is succeeded by the new AC500-eCo V3 CPUs.
The AC500-eCo V3 CPUs are based on the same concept and footprint as AC500-eCo V2. They enhance the range with a larger memory, and more processing performance. The AC500-eCo V3 CPUs provide more onboard I/O channels and more scalability via option boards which extends the feature set while maintaining the footprint. Additionally, they include various fieldbus communication capabilities and connectivity to cloud applications with secure protocols.
ABB uses a standard IEC61131-3-based programming system for the entire AC500 family - you will be up and running in no time with Automation Builder engineering suite.
AC500-S Safety PLC – CPU
• AC500-S Safety PLC offers unique integrated Safety CPU modules SM560-S, SM560-S-FD-1 and SM560-S-FD-4, which are optimally designed to meet even the most • complex functional safety application requirements.
• Certified for SIL3 (IEC 61508, IEC 62061, IEC 61511) and PL e (ISO 13849-1) safety applications.
• Both PROFIsafe F-Host and F-Device functions over PROFINET are supported including the connectivity to more than one F-Host.

AC500-XC - S500 I/O modules
Extreme Condition PLC variant of the AC500 platform with extended operating temperature, immunity to vibration and hazardous gases, use at high altitudes and in humid environments.
We believe expanding or adding field devices should be quite simply. Therefore we develop multifunctional and software configurable I/O modules and provide numerous basic I/O modules with different channels, signal voltage and fieldbus connections.
You can choose and combine your needed type of connection:
• Central, using local I/O bus of CPU module.
• Up to ten I/O modules can be connected to the CPU.
• Decentralized periphery via fieldbus between CPU module and remote I/O modules.
• For each fieldbus slave, up to ten I/O modules can be connected.
• Multifunctional approach: some modules cover a broad range of requirements, e.g. AI531 with 8 types of different signals in one module.
